Medical Information on the Internet
When using the internet for medical information, we offer the following guidance.
- Always look for a balanced view. Do not just rely on one site.
- Remember that anyone can publish anything on the internet.
- Make sure the authors and their qualifications are listed.
- Look at what other reliable information the site refers to.
- Check that the site is regularly updated.
- Look for advertising which might influence the information on the site.
- Avoid online consultations or diagnoses.
- Check on privacy and confidentiality.
- Sites from outside the UK may mention treatments that are not available here.
We hope patients may find the following websites helpful. However, all links from this website are provided for information and convenience only. We cannot accept responsibility for sites linked to, or the information found there. A link does not imply an endorsement of a site; likewise, not linking to a particular site does not imply lack of endorsement.
All consultations are by appointment. We usually allow 10 minutes per appointment but if you need more time please ask for a double appointment. If more than one member of the family needs to be seen please ask for a separate appointment for each. You are not restricted to the doctor with whom you are registered and for non-urgent appointments you may see whom you wish. However, we would suggest that it is best to try and see the same doctor each time for the same problem so as to enable approprate continuity of care. Routine appointments are usually available within two working days.
If you need to cancel an appointment please let us know as soon as possible. Somebody else might like to make use of it!
If you have an urgent problem you will be asked for some details and the duty doctor will then ring you back as soon as possible (usually within an hour). Our aim is to provide the right care at the right time. You may be asked to come down straight away, or you may be offered an appointment the same day with whichever doctor is available, or your problem may be one that can be managed on the telephone.
To make an appointment, please call in or telephone 01865 371666 during practice opening hours. You can also book appointments online. You will need to register for this service. Please be aware that you can only book single appointments via this method. If you require a double appointment, or need more time for other reasons such as a medical or having a coil fitted, you will need to contact the surgery.
